About Bevin
I am a practising companion animal veterinarian with experience in working at and managing small animal shelters, writing investigative reports and implementing national animal welfare legislation.
I graduated with a BVSc from Onderstepoort (University of Pretoria) in 2017, and obtained an MSc in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law through the University of Edinburgh in 2022. I am currently the chairperson of the South African Veterinary Association’s Animal Ethics & Welfare Committee.
The MSc degree exposed me to a wide variety of animal welfare challenges and enabled me to think critically about these scenarios in order to find the best possible solutions. I have a particular interest in the One Health and One Welfare fields. Animal Ethos Consulting Services was founded in early 2024 to further my keen interest in animals and their welfare, and strengthen animal welfare science collaborations between South and Southern Africa and the rest of the world.
Apart from my passion for the welfare of all animals, I also enjoy travelling, reading, learning calligraphy and horse riding. I currently live in Johannesburg with my husband and two cats.
